Biography

Pierre is a Canadian multi-disciplinary artist, currently residing in Mississauga. Having been immersed in new surroundings at a young age, Pierre quickly grasped the value of photographs; seemingly valueless snapshots of friends, family & other memories turned invaluable through distance and the passage of time. And so, he began documenting the world around him.

Pierre studied photography and printmaking at the Ontario College of Art and Design, working in a variety of art-making mediums. After completing his thesis body of work consisting of a series of black and white medium format photographs, Pierre worked in screen-printing for a few years before taking odd jobs in corporate roles. These experiences helped veer Pierre back onto his artistic path, and during this time, Pierre created designer clothing and accessories brand, Cheat Death Corp., which draws inspiration from tattoo culture and pays homage to his punk rock roots.

Returning to the photographic medium in 2018, Pierre wanted to move away from the monotony of black and white photography, and would often introduce unnatural colours into his architectural photographs.

Pierre's most recent photographic body of work, Skulptz, draws attention to our collective wasteful consumerism. In 2020, Pierre found himself visiting thrift stores regularly, seeing the mountains of postconsumer waste discarded by our throwaway culture. Pierre began appropriating some of these throwaway ceramics into unique and colourful works of art through painting techniques, drawing inspiration from his love of colourful street art, designer toy culture, and collectables.
